In today’s fast-paced and stressful world, mental health challenges are becoming increasingly common. Many people are turning toward spiritual practices as a source of peace and emotional balance. One such practice that has gained attention among researchers and psychologists is listening to the Holy Quran. Recent studies, including one conducted at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in southeast Iran, have shed light on the positive effects of Quran listening without its musical tone (Tartil) on mental health and overall well-being.
The study was designed to evaluate the mental health of university personnel before and after listening to the Quran in Tartil. The results revealed a significant improvement in the mental health scores of the participants in the test group compared to the control group. This suggests that the soothing and rhythmic recitation of the Quran can have a therapeutic impact, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. Importantly, the improvement was statistically meaningful (P = 0.037), providing strong evidence of the Quran’s calming influence.
Interestingly, the study also examined whether gender differences played a role in the outcomes. Findings showed no significant variation between men and women before and after the intervention (P = 0.806). This indicates that Quran listening in Tartil form benefits individuals regardless of gender, making it a universal tool for achieving inner calm and emotional stability. Such results highlight the Quran’s timeless relevance as a source of guidance and healing for all.
